The debut film of Syra Shahroz, ‘Chalay Thay Saath’ which was released last year has been selected to be screened at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Film Festival, from June 13 to June 17, 2018 in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong Province.
The film’s cast included Syra Shahroz, Kent S Leung, Mansha Pasha, Osama Tahir and Zhalay Sarhadi, showcasing how they all meet during a tour and the struggles faced by the group. Although the film had breath taking views and soulful songs, it however lacked the story and received mixed reviews from the critics.
The film selection was carried out by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage and includes Pakistan as one of the 12 countries among the invited participants at the SCO film festival.
Speaking to The Express Tribune Syra said that
“This film is very close to my heart and always will be”, she added, “From full house screening in Hong Kong to getting selected in several film festivals, it’s done tremendously well post it’s Pakistan release. One of those festivals was the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Film Festival. Now, it’s making its way to the SCO film festival in China and I’m super thrilled to be representing Pakistan on an international platform.”
The film has also been viewed by a full house at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in the city’s Tony Wan Chai district, which was held on March 20, 2018.
